A delightful 90's action programmer throwback with absolutely nothing on its mind, sort of Taylor Sheridan's riff on COMMANDO. A series of very satisfying thumps.
Jack Ryan might fit right in to Amazon Prime’s streaming plans (Step one: be the content appendage for a dystopian-sized everything company. Step two: do whatever), but Tom Clancy’s entire brand of cloak-and-dagger “make your dad feel young again” spy stories has felt out of step with the film world ever since they nuked Ben Affleck at the Super Bowl in a desperate attempt to keep pace with the effects-driven spectacle of contemporary summer blockbusters. It’s too grounded, too small, too contained. And despite the popularity of the “Rainbow Six” video game franchise (among other interactive series inspired by the author’s work), the Cold War concerns that grip Clancy’s writing feel a bit outmoded in a digital world in which…
michael b. jordan pisses on his own jacket and pours booze over his own head to pretend to be a homeless drunk to fool a security detail. i know what you're thinking and i can confirm that YES he still looks hot as fuck during that whole ruse.
this was pretty decent. brutal action, fine performances and some classic CIA espionage. i really like films in this genre, it feels like an actioner that would have came out in the 90s — it's very light on story and it gets straight to the point. NOW AMAZON, BRING US THAT RAINBOW SIX SEQUEL AND PUT JOHN KRASINSKI'S JACK RYAN INTO THE MIX. LET'S GOOOO

Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse, directed by Stefano Sollima and starring Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell, Jodie Turner-Smith, Luke Mitchell, and Guy Pearce, probably won't be the film fans of the book franchise were hoping for. Growing up playing the Tom Clancy games and, most importantly, reading his 1993 novel of the same name, has garnered me excited for this upcoming project given Amazon's success with one of Clancy's other adaptations, John Krasinski's Jack Ryan series. However, despite Michael B. Jordan making a compelling John Kelly, fitting the modern reinterpretation of the character well, Without Remorse is nothing more than dark action followed by a sorely underdeveloped storyline that ultimately left me wanting more.
It's this storyline that sadly proved a…
The line from Hunt for Red October to this thing is a straight, plummeting arrow into the toilet. Incompetently shot, incoherently written, flatly acted. "Streaming content" really is a different, distinctly shittier form of entertainment than motion pictures.
“Are you looking for remorse? Because he’s fresh out.”
“A lot of remorseless things are happening!”
“This is a man who’s dangerously low on remorse.”
“The remorse is exiting that man’s body, leaving him bereft of remorse.”
“This is the speech where he affirms his lack of remorse!”
-Stuff my wife and I said to each other while watching this movie
A movie like its hero: Cold, detached, brutal, and a little one-dimensional.

John Clark, a Navy SEAL, goes on a path to avenge his wife's murder only to find himself inside of a larger conspiracy.
Michael B. Jordan is one of those actors who can completely save a film that could otherwise be lackluster, and that is exactly the case here. I would like to see more from this universe because of his presence and charisma alone. The origin itself here is underwhelming as a whole, especially when you look at Taylor Sheridan being the main screenwriter. Taking this material and elevating it was an important task for Jordan, as that is essentially the only way fans are going to have fun. Thankfully,…
Without Remorse is a hard-nosed action slugfest. Michael B. Jordan lights up the screen as he fucks up every bad guy in sight.
I believe the action community will embrace Without Remorse with open arms. It delivers in all the areas I wanted it to. Make sure you pop extra popcorn for all the excitement. This movie is the real deal. Check it out!!
Michael B Jordan was born to be an action star! Without Remorse is the latest Tom Clancy adaptation, although it strays from the source material, it still your lazy “cloak and dagger” story with intense action sequences and some twists and turns. There are a lot of tired action/spy troupes but a solid cast round out a decent popcorn flick.
