As I’ve been going through my watchlist of over 70 stand-up comedy specials I’ve fucked myself over with, my 200th review lands on Tom Segura: Mostly Stories. And as the title suggests, it is, mostly stories. I thought Bert Kreischer brought the mundane to comedic heights until I watched this. There are some truly innocent stories and anecdotes that sound absurdly boring on paper, but Segura makes them work. He elevates the slim hint of nuance from Completely Normal with echoed cursing and muffled stutters. All of the humor is pretty conventional, but Segura leans into the long-form with some memorable bits and casual delivery enough to separate himself. This earns a half star for the shoutout to all the assholes who bring babies to the movie theater.

Definitely not as good as Completely Normal, but still just as energetic and perfectly told in the same way; Tom Segura: Mostly Stories is honestly really funny and makes Segura one of my favorite comedies, I was just expecting more after his first one.

Tom Segura is hilarious. His content is conventional, but his delivery is phenomenal. Between this and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, I laughed my ass off tonight.

Well this was thoroughly splendid.

Segura is a comedian who has that utmost confidence on stage that just effortlessly transfers itself to his routine, making some actually pretty simple material altogether more enjoyable in the process.

There's nothing really groundbreaking here at all. but the way Segura delivers it, most notably a stunning bit about babies in cinemas, gives it an extra sheen that makes it a hell of a lot funnier than it would have been in the hands of, well, a crap comedian.

Easily one of the best stand up shows I've seen for ages perhaps due in part, to be honest, to the fact that most of the stuff Netflix have produced lately has been bollocks. This patently isn't.

Last bit is the best

Perhaps not as great or as aggressive as Segura's other specials, but it's still pretty good, especially in how Segura manages to make ordinary stories sound fun. Topped with the Beef bit, which still lives in my head rent-free 5 years later, this Netflix special is pretty good, but not as good as his other work.

Saturday Night Standup: Filmed in 2015 in Seattle, Washington.

The title says it all, and he's got some great stories. He covers topics like getting old, about to be a dad, the Area 51 of men's bodies, and an airplane encounter with Mike Tyson. One of my favorite bits was about his current favorite TV show, "Scared Straight".

More funny stuff. Lots o' laughs, some of them uncomfortable.

Mike Tyson would definitely be a weirdo irl but in the nicest way possible

He's fine, not the best I've seen. Sort of a standard white guy comedian.

I love how he describes his career as a comedian as essentially "a dude who tells stories" and every single one he shares here is believable and relatable. So great, and a great closing!! You go Tom. Good for everyone.
