alicia vikander’s arm and back muscles... i’m free on thursdays but i will honestly clear my entire schedule at this point just please call me
lmao when she yelled "THE FLOOR" and her dad yelled "LARA" i thought he said lava and i couldn't stop laughing
*incredible* graphics, but way too many cut-scenes. at least they finally got Lara Croft right.
I don’t care how many times it’s been said or how many times you’ve had to hear it and I don’t care about the pathetic male “critics” who think lara’s breast size or their personal level of attraction to alicia vikander affects quite literally anything about this movie’s quality I LOVE BADASS WOMEN CHARACTERS and I feel SO blessed to be seeing them become more and more celebrated as I’m growing older and we can reboot everything and anything for all I care if it means we get more sick films like this that just make you feel COOL and on edge and scared and sad and happy and cheerful and fearful and most of all POWERFUL!! Woohooooo!!!!!!!
me, seeing alicia vikander shoot arrows at men and beating them up: god i wish that were me
i guess this is an iteration of tomb raider that takes itself more seriously — but in a way, it also doesn’t and that’s what i kinda love about it. there are cheesy one-liners, lara kicks a guy in the balls, there’s a nick frost cameo, for god’s sake. because of that, it reminded me of the silly adventure movies i adored as a kid like the mummy and national treasure. it’s nice that little girls have another action hero to look up to.
This is perfectly serviceable. In fact if someone told you it came out in the late 90's you might buy it. And it has as much running and jumping as any game except you're not pressing X all the time, which believe it or not actually makes a difference. Turning this into LARA CROFT BEGINS however was a bonehead move. Am I really supposed to care how she got the pick axe or the twin pistols? I mean I guess that's slightly more interesting than how this turns her from a fortune and glory treasure hunter into a generic tough movie babe with generic tough movie babe daddy issues but whatever.
+1 for Alicia absolutely owning the role
+1 for nods to the 2013 game
-1 for literally no other interesting characters
-2 the exposition/flashbacks killed my soul
+6 for each of Alicia Vikander’s glorious abs
We live in a universe where tits complain about tits and ignore a solid action film in the process.
What a world.
there was not one joke in this movie, yet the stupid theater collectively laughed 8 times
alicia vikander made eye contact with me at the european premiere and now I stan her thanks for coming to my ted talk
