I still say that it's real. As in, film real and not all in his head.
I've always thought this, and despite reading a million words on the subject, I've been close to being persuaded that I am wrong, but never completely.
Until the last thing I read which, if you've not seen it, centres around one of the assistants at Recall reading the details of the implant and mocking the idea of "blue skies on Mars".
Well the fucking edit that they put on TV missed that goddamn line out. So I'm still thinking it's real.
(plus, the skies turn blue /after/ this comment... so meh).
I love the film. It gets almost full marks because 29 years after it came out (say whaaaat??), and with SpaceX and Mars and all that real stuff, I can still enjoy it in a "could happen" kinda way!
