Hick handymen Val McKee and Earl Bassett can barely eke out a living in the Nevada hamlet of Perfection, so they decide to leave town -- despite an admonition from a shapely seismology coed who's picking up odd readings on her equipment. Before long, Val and Earl discover what's responsible for those readings: 30-foot-long carnivorous worms with a proclivity for sucking their prey underground.

There are 95 reviews for this film on Letterboxd as I write my own, and roughly 95% of them, judging from a quick skim, include the word "fun" somewhere. And it is enormously fun, which is distinct from being funny. Though it's often that, too. What really struck me this time, though, is how deftly constructed it is, especially (GET OFF MY LAWN!) compared to today's studio genre fare. Each scene builds on the one before, presenting our heroes with a new crisis that negates their solution to the previous crisis; sources of vibration like the little girl's pogo stick and Walter's malfunctioning cooler are set up well in advance without looking like blatant setups. There's no wasted energy.…
It's too easy to ascribe this film's success to its enthusiasm with which it gives shape to its tribute to the B-style monster movie. If we did that we would be remiss in acknowledging the fact that this film is extremely well made and has a script approaching perfection.
Pacing is paramount in films like this and this script's exposition and build up to its finale is pitch perfect. There just isn't any lag or static at all, providing non stop entertainment fuelled by crisp dialogue, fantastic action sequences and a host of tremendous characters.

Still one of the most indelible movie monsters ever (I honestly can't think of one as good since), realized by some delightful special effects (I'm especially fond of the seamless miniature hand puppet work). And like the graboids this is fast as hell and constantly pulls the ground right out from under you, just endless inventive momentum.

It’s very easy for a movie to engage the eyes and the ears. It’s much harder to engage the nose. I like how Tremors does that by having the characters constantly talk about how putrid these monsters smells. It’s adds a lovely, nauseating atmosphere to the picture.
"Tremors" is a 1990 creature horror film directed by Ron Underwood. The film itself in an encapsulation of good ole' fashion fun in the description of film ventures, easily accessible to a plethora of fandom which established it as lasting cult classic. It's weird to say that a movie about giant killer worms (Graboids if we want to be specific in our terminology) is one of the highest forms of comfort food that cinema has brought forward, but here we are, as there frankly is an assembly of those who speak not only praise that it's a good film, but an ongoing endearment sentiment in how the film the film consistently brings a smile to their face over the years.…

Tremors is basically a landlocked variation on 'Jaws' and those 1950s giant bug movies: the isolated town of Perfection, Nevada (population 16), finds itself under siege by four monstrous, subterranean wormlike creatures, that hunt by sensing vibrations in the ground.
