Turn Every Page is coming out theatrically in New York and Los Angeles (Dec. 30 2022). A very interesting documentary about how to be a literary editor and writing about how political power really works as oppose to writing about great men.
Director Lizzie Gottlieb might not be impartial to the subject matter because she's Robert Gottlieb's daughter, but she did get great access. I couldn't recommend this documentary strongly enough.

I read two-thirds of The Power Broker during graduate school and my world was changed by the experience of Caro’s research and writing. I went to grad school for Urban Planning and am now an urban planner for a living, by the way. I have built a career as a researcher on community wealth building projects. (True story). Bob Gottlieb is my new favorite manic pixie dream girl.
I liked this a stupid amount and I cannot emphasize enough how much I am not a reader. In fact, for at least a few years my hinge profile featured a photo of myself in my parents living room, unintentionally with the Caro collection visible on the bookshelf behind me. Tonight I learned why that photo drew so much attention from one very specific type of person.

Sooo this was the most adorable, inspirational and satisfying movie I’ve seen in a while.
I enjoyed every second of it and now I have to buy The Power Broker…
