This movie takes a mixture of things to make a thrilling story that has decent spookage to it.
The film mixed supernatural folklore, wartime post revolution 80's atmosphere, and a good cultural aspect to blend into this surprisingly PG 13 watch.
It doesn't hold any major scares if you are a hardcore horror fan but it does give you a good message of haunting of wartime via PTSD and through cultural folklore that can prey upon a broken spirit during that time. There were also moments of Shideh trying to keep everything normal even with all that was going on.
The characters were done well and holds some good engaging times. Especially as we draw closer to the finale. Plus with the runtime, it doesn't drags its feet when it wants to speed up the pace at times.
Overall, this was great and definitely a must see if you want some cultural folklore spookage or Djinn related horror.
