  I went into this pretty biased, I have a big problem with Anonymous and what they claim to stand for. They seem to hurt innocents just as much as corporations.

  I have to say this documentary really changed my views, whilst I'm still not a supporter of Anonymous my views on them have certainly changed. A well made documentary that is eye opening. Well worth watching.

  I'd be lying if I said I totally understood everything that was mentioned in this documentary that was again another pick on Netflix. The Hacktivist group Anonymous was simply something I'd heard of but knew little about until the carnage they caused with their antics towards The Church Of Scientology, which was, in my humble opinion very funny. Freedom Of Speech is something that the group feel very strongly about and although I didn't agree with all of the things they got up to, some of it really did change the world we live in for the better.   The story of hacktivist group Anonymous is an interesting one. If you're a true denizen of the Internet, you know that 4chan is a hive of scum and villainy--albeit one that gives us all our favorite memes--but it also birthed perhaps the most influential protest movement of the 21st century. It began in 2006, when members of 4chan crashed the website of white supremacist Hal Turner while sending pizzas and pallets of industrial equipment to his home. The elaborate prank ended up costing Turner thousands of dollars and inspiring an offshoot of 4chan focused on doing good with their hacking skills.

  Brilliant documentary on Anonymous, the Hacktivist group responsible for Civil Disobedience. This is a captivating film, a film that tells us a thoroughly entertaining story that we can get a clear understanding of the group’s intentions and why they do this.   An interesting look at various 'hacktivist' groups, their beginnings, their successes, and their failures. This is a good documentary which doesn't take sides and manages to involve interviewing people who are against sites like WikiLeaks, as well as those who stand for particular ideals. It doesn't idolise the hackers, or call them criminals. Well-balanced and neutral.

  Very interesting documentary that charts the creation of the hacktivist group Anonymous from laughing at cats to helping to change Governments through the process of democracy. Essential viewing to get what is the other side of the story.

  It's great that someone tackled this topic while it is still relatively fresh, that way the most important details are preserved. But I do feel that it should have been tackled by someone with a bit more experienced because it's a bit too biased and didn't cover enough ground. The "Yay! We did civil activism through the internet and now we're awesome!" approach is a bit too narrow for my liking. But still a good recap of historical events though.

  A decently well presented take on an absolutely fascinating story. I do wish is that we'd seen more of the comedic and edgy sides of Anonymous and a little more discussion on the mentality behind true anonymity and it's importance in freedom of discussion but I guess the intent was to highlight the political good that can come from it more than the idea itself so it's something I can handle.

  My personal highlights of this film is "We were targeting furries, a subculture of people of course who, y'know, a lot of people on 4chan find irritating by virtue of their... being irritating." because the delivery of that line is just comedically on fire.

  there really cannot be a genuine conversation about online communities if it will be sanctifying the entire time

  absolutely no mention about the toxicity and inherent contradictions of forums like 4chan, no hacktivist methods mentioned besides simple ddos attacks and doxxing, no criticism of the absurd fixation on scientology, no criticism of the apolitical/hateful nature of online meme culture--it is simply brushed away as excusable, quirky behavior of mostly white men
