Werewolves Within is hilarious at times. You cannot help but get an Edgar Wright vibe while watching.
Werewolves are the new vampires. We keep seeing werewolf movies pop up, and Werewolves Within would make a great double feature with The Wolf of Snow Hollow.
I had no idea Werewolves Within was based on a video game. So, I cannot tell you how the movie resembles the game. I can tell you I had an enjoyable time watching, and I think you might enjoy watching it too.

An absolute delight, I enjoyed every laugh and scare in equal amounts. Love Josh Ruben’s style and voice which perfectly fits this small-town whodunnit, an almost wackier WOLF OF SNOW HOLLOW with a hell of a game cast and razor sharp craft.

Based on Ubisoft’s Mafia-like VR game of the same name, “Werewolves Within” is a charmingly slight horror-comedy whodunnit about the sheer terror of having to live alongside the kind of grown-ass, shotgun-toting, white American man who’s never even heard of Mr. Rogers. How are you supposed to share a country with a person like that? Very cute! Milana Vayntrub is going to be a leading lady and she deserves it!!! Kinda suffers from too much cringy Knives Out humor and really wants to make sure you get the very obvious political metaphor, but when the jokes hit they really hit!!! The very first joke, which is a quote before the movie starts made me scream. Milana and Sam Richardson have very good chemistry and I hope they get a ton more work!!!!
WEREWOLVES WITHIN is a romp of a horror whodunnit that expands on the video game its based on. Think Knives Out meets Fargo with werewolves! The cast, mostly consisting of character actors, deliver hilariously over the top performances that are nothing short of an absolute blast!

So. Much. Fun. I never, ever thought I’d see so many Mr. Rogers references made in a gorey whodunnit murder mystery!
IFC Distributing Werewolves Within makes perfect sense. Josh Ruben’s video-game-to-screen adaptation feels, in many ways, like an extended Portlandia episode. On the nose brand wise is an understatement! Stereotyped characters, hilarious outbursts of nonsensical dialogue, a story that just gets more and more crazy, all nestled in the cozy world of small town Beaverfield and with a beyond charming forest ranger, played by a brilliant Sam Richardson, screaming his way through it all.
I do think the big reveal and conclusion to things drags itself out for far too long, but that’s really my singular complaint in the end! Beautifully shot, deliriously insane, and hilariously surreal!!

Are indie werewolves becoming a thing? Please make indie werewolves a thing. Vampires are overrated anyway.
As many others, I went into this film expecting another The Wolf Of Snow Hollow, but what I got was a quirky murder mystery reminiscent of an Agatha Christie novel, where the killer may or may not be a werewolf.
Even though its tone and story are often derivative, watching everything unfold was still really interesting thanks to a script with a few surprises under its sleeve and colorful characters that often come across as irritating at time, although you cannot help but chuckle at the wacky and gruesome situations that they find themselves in. Director Josh Reuben strikes the right balance between Tarantino and The Coen Brothers, especially by the third act.
