Anthology film from the makers of the WNUF Halloween Special about a group of employees for a click bait website gathering to pitch videos they've found to be included in a listicle of the top 13 scariest viral videos for Halloween. The videos they share act as the anthology segments while one of the videos puts a curse on the office in the wraparound. The segments vary in quality, as they do in most anthologies, but they're all very short so no individual video brings the experience down too much. Cute anthology of faux found footage horror in various mediums and styles. Some are better than others, but as seen in WNUF Halloween Special, the team is great at capturing those vintage aesthetics. Looking forward to checking out the sequel to that one in particular in the near future as well.

On Halloween night, at the offices of internet content aggregators Click Clique, the staff begin combing through various video shorts to find the most click-baity thrill they can find. It would prove to be a very thrilling evening.
I wasn't sure about this, since it's not exactly the same kind of alternate history horror I'm used to from LaMartina, but my concerns were quickly assuaged. It's different, but the general feel of it is what I'm looking for. It's short, it's sometimes goofy and sometimes scary and the wraparound is used nicely as the tension mounts.

Not quite WNUF level stuff here, but this is another really charming entry from Chris LaMartina.
Best described as a viral clickbait anthology horror movie, LaMartina succeeds again at creating another throwback. While the wraparound Buzzfeed-esque characters aren’t old, most of the actual viral videos they show are, giving fuzzy VHS vibes. Only a couple feel like modern Internet videos, so I loved that.
None of this is actually supposed to be scary, and that’s even more fun. It’s all tongue in cheek. Unless you’re an actual journalist like me. Because then the premise that you’re losing your job because of low clicks is absolutely terrifying.
"For fans of LaMartina’s work in WNUF Halloween Special there’s a lot to love in What Happens Next Will Scare You, and it’s hard not to compare the two works. The movie truly shines when it uses the same lo-fi, VHS style found in the former and it even features some of the same talent either reprising their roles or putting on similar hammy and endearing performances. That said, all of the other work in the film is different enough to stand on its own, with lighting and visual effects that remind me of Shudder’s reboot of Creepshow."
Someone give Chris LaMartina and Jimmy George a budget so they can fully realize their visions. They obviously have the ideas and the chops.
Super fun anthology (of sorts) from the director of the brilliant WNUF Halloween Special, about a group of “journalists” who write for a clickbait website, gathering to view potential videos for their Halloween “15 Scariest Videos” listicle (I hate that word).
The clips are tons of fun (I especially like the exorcism How-To video and Scraps the stuffed bear). The acting is a bit rough in the narrative segments, but not enough to be distracting and all in all it’s a very entertaining and Halloween-y 72 minutes that I’ll certainly enjoy revisiting around this time of year!
I had hope for this because I love WNUF Halloween Special a whole bunch, but, woof, it’s rough. There’s a fair amount of that same charm left over, but it’s all confined to a few too-brief and too-far-between snippets presented as viral videos. The framing device, which mainly consists of the staff of a clickbait digital mag trading barbs and presenting their clips, eats up the majority of the runtime and is pretty dire stuff all around.
WNUF Halloween Special immerses you in the idea that you’re watching an authentic relic from the 1980s, an unearthed cursed object that someone just popped into your VCR. WHNWSY keeps pulling you away from the stuff you want to see so you can share…
Caught a late night virtual screening of this from Cinematic Void. Super fun anthology!
At first I was feeling pretty disappointed, like this wasn’t going to be all that enjoyable. The wrap-around didn’t seem that great… the characters were whatever… and the first few videos were bland… But! I was pleasantly surprised after the rather shaky start. Just stick with it and you’ll have a lot of silly, gross fun. :) It’s really a clever premise that keeps escalating and escalating!
(The video with renowned paranormal experts Louis & Claire Berger is clearly the best.)
Been waiting years for this!! And it's so much fun. Great for Halloween. You've got one day left to rent it from the Nightmares Film Fest, which has some real gems in its program.
