Always down for anything with Radha Mitchell and she's friggin' great in this neat little crime thriller.

New Zealand-made, US-set, post-Tarantino genre piece whose production date belies its late '90s hangover aesthetic, immediately evident from its soundtrack and costume choices—and if that didn't clue you in, the bad guys are after a 'mysterious' disc, which with unintentional hilarity, results in a third act mix-up in a CD player.
While Scott Reynolds the writer has a poor handle on American idioms (early on a parking lot is referred to as the car park), Scott Reynolds the director revels in Americana, hanging on every roadside diner detail for as long he can and giving movie star attention to a giant 'GAS' sign that obviously took a hefty chunk of the low budget, making damn sure he…
There's a Woman in a Diner.
Strange Dude without Money appears.
Than 3 other Weirdos appear.
They're searching for the Dude, who stole a CD from them.
The Cop is a Dick and appears sometimes too.
Woman has to Deal with the Situation.
Hunt, Murder, Action, Violence.
Nice, little Thriller with cool Tarantino Vibes and a twisty but very predictable Script.
Fully entertaining with some rocking Songs and a big Smile at the End.
Must be a goddamn great Playlist on that CD.
Some dark backstory in places, riveting moments, and I really liked how some of the scenes were shot. My only real issue was the late 90s/early 2000s "bad guys looking for The Disc with The Information on it cuz Internet" trope.
A really like this mystery thriller.
You could probably poke holes in it if you really wanted to, but I was having too much fun.
Undervalued and forgotten but pretty good thriller from New Zealand with some very well directed suspense set-pieces. Unfortunately, Scott Reynolds has not been able to direct anything since.
I stumbled across this movie on tv many years ago and couldn't remember much about it other than a diner in the middle of nowhere and a guy trying to hide from some guys in said diner. After many years of searching, I finally found it and gave it another watch. Totally forgot that Josh Lucas is in this film. The ending is terrible and some of the scenes are ridiculous, but I really enjoyed this little crime thriller. Definitely better than a lot of the other "thrillers" that are out there.
