Since I just watched Witchtrap, I had to get this one in too. When I was a kid, I really enjoyed this series. I had all 3 movies on VHS and I watched them quite a bit. I haven’t seen them since then and while I don’t know if the sequels will hold up as well, I’m glad at least this one did.
I guess this would be the original Ouija and it’s a lot more fun than that snoozefest that clearly ripped off this movie. It’s goofy and ridiculous, but it’s very entertaining. I love the camerawork whenever the ghost is getting ready to pull something on someone. The dudebro level gets a bit high with one bro pissed at…
If the party mood goes down, just take out the good old ouija board and summon a dead little boy. So far, so normal xD
Although the movie is nothing special, it does have some twists that makes it worth watching.
If that doesn't convince, there’s also a nice shower scene to mention.
Normalize male friendships where one is a rich dick bro who is also super knowledgable about the occult and the other dropped out of med school
80s supernatural shennanigans up in heyar! A bunch of goofy teenagers unleash an evil spirit after using an Ouija board (or "weeja" as they pronounce it). Soon each teenager is harassed and sometimes murdered by the evil presence. What can stop the weeja??
This film is 80s galore. The hairdos, decor, fashion and overall style. So when there's a slow part theres still enough vibrant visuals to please the senses. Cheesy dialogue, quirky characters, dream sequences and the odd gory kill make this a fine entry in 80s horror. With that said the heavy dialogue scenes bogs this one down a bit and keeps it from being quite as wild as it could have been. The kills are fairly minimal…
The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs - Season 5 - Episode 2 - Film 1
Brandon and a pregnant Linda are at a party. As it winds down they use an Ouija Board to keep the fun going, and contact the spirit of a young boy named David. The session goes awry but the board is left at their house. The next day, Linda uses the board on her own, and attempts to contact David again...or so she thought. What poses as David just may be something much worse...
Witchboard has an intro theme that is prime 1986. It had me hooked within eight seconds. It's also always nice to see the legendary Rose Marie who bridged generations of…
Kevin Tenney, ein eigentlich sträflich vernachlässigter Genreregisseur (Night of the demons;
The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob and Darcy - Season 5: Episode 2, Film 1
Always like it when Joe Bob's picks are films I'd almost watched and hesitated to for whatever reason. That's actually true of both films tonight. Even if they're a bit underwhelming, that's the joy of discovery. Brandon is a yuppie with an encyclopedic knowledge of the Ouija board. He brings it to a party. A feeble attempt to impressive his ex-girlfriend Linda (Tawny Kitaen), though her new boyfriend Jim is having none of it.
Brandon explains a bizarre and unique set of rules as he and Linda contact a 10-year-old spirit named David, as Jim heckles them. The spirit gets so upset that it explodes…
Sexy possessed Tawny Kitaen with her fiery long red hair!
Every time I saw her I keep visioning her in the Whitesnake's video "Here I Go Again"

So sweet and goofy. After a man brings a ouija board to a party, his ex-girlfriend Linda begins communicating with a spirit she believes is David, a 10-year old boy. She's instantly drawn to David and finds it hard to stop speaking to him, even though her personality is rapidly changing. Murders n possession ensue. There's a kooky medium named Zarabeth who can't stop making bad puns in the name of "psychic humor". There's dude bros fighting over who truly deserves Linda's love. There's also slightly boring middle bits, but the movie has a great atmosphere and is FUN. I am a sucker for cheesy romantic 80s garbage so the ending of this made it impossible for me to not love this movie.
Two feuding friends, Jim and Brandon, must put aside their differences when Linda, the woman they've been quarrelling over, gets touchy feely with a Ouija board and ends up befriending an unfriendly ghost.
A horror drama about a love triangle, the first 40 minutes of Witchboard is dreary stuff. I was utterly Witchbored. Although, once the two friends hit the road and begin to investigate the origins of the evil spirit that’s terrorising Linda, it becomes a different movie and it was all the better for it, but before you get to that, nothing really happens apart from Linda finding out she’s pregnant.
There is however, a cool scene near the end which follows Jim as he falls backwards out…
Moderately creepy but mostly disappointing, only because it fails to deliver on its unsettling premise and when it does, it’s often more silly than scary. But my god, the moments of unintentional comedy are to die for. That lead chick seriously needs to chill out and smoke a doobie or something - she's so on edge all the time, I love it, haha.
