Barbara Minerva: I used to be a nerd who nobody liked but now I am hot and bulletproof and can pull off Robert Smith-levels of eyeliner.
Maxwell Lord: but don’t you want *more*?
Barbara Minerva: i want… to be cat.
when they said wonder woman 1984 i thought they meant like neon colors and synths but they meant all the horrifying, reagan era geopolitics and middle eastern stereotypes. doesn't help that it also looks like shit and has no sense of character or pace, it can't even successfully recreate the clean action or lead chemistry that the first film had let alone attach them to some sort of story, the whole thing just bizarrely lumbers to its 5 minutes of weightless slomo action sequences scattered throughout the ungodly runtime and confused plot attempts (at times utterly baffling ones, see: the insane and completely unaddressed way chris pine is written back in, pretty much anything to do with kristen wiig's knockoff…
Actor Pedro Pascal is in critical condition and has been admitted to the hospital this morning due to severe back pain caused by carrying the entire movie on his shoulders 💔🙏🏻
kristen wiig makes this fun but it is kind of a hate crime to set a movie in the 80s and not have a single 80s song in the soundtrack why the fuck would you show blue monday to me in the trailer if i can’t have it
The Mandalorian touches a lot of people through the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
Hahahaha what the fuck, they actually put fucking IDF gal gadot in cairo "rescuing" a hijabi kid from oil thieves by killing random egyptians, can American propaganda get more laughable
I just read a review that said "I can't believe this was about a magic rock that grants wishes" which is fair I mean what's next, a magic glove that holds *six* magic rocks that grant wishes? Unrealistic.
My view on this movie may be tainted by the countless reviews I've seen since writing this but from the start, I didn't like this movie. I was hopeful because I actually liked the first film except for the last act. I figured that mistake was due to studio interference and that because of the fall of DC movies, and their desire to change course, another Wonder Woman movie would be better. The scene in the mall was enough for me to hate it and what makes it even worse, that tone didn't even carry over to the rest of the movie. In retrospect, that scene seems so out of place.
I thinks its biggest flaw was the rules of the movie. I cant enjoy a movie if I'm constantly questioning if something makes sense.
I diagnose this movie with Type 2 Sequelitis, a sequel that tries to be bigger than it's predecessor, but ultimately is worse than it's predecessor
why'd they make this movie lmao they actually managed to make Trump sympathetic somehow
Che pochezza narrativa e produttiva. Che. Pochezza.
Now that everyone has already seen this film, HBO finally made a deal with Sky to distribute their films in Germany with a few months of delay as long as the pandemic continues, and WW84 is the first title to be released pre-cinema release on streaming here.
I really wish I would have liked WW84 more than I ultimately did, but perhaps one of my biggest issues was that it wasn't more eighties. There was the fantastic trailer underlined with Sebastian Böhm's rendition of Blue Monday, and there were the posters with all their heavily stylized, colorful aesthetics, and so it came as a genuine surprise to me that the final result looked so ... cheap? There is absolutely nothing…
