The World and the Flesh (1932) is based on a popular story filmed countless of times all over the world. One about a lady with a questionable reputation being pressured to sacrifice herself on behalf of those "better than her". Except for the Hollywood interpretation they cleaned it up greatly and gave it a very American ending spitting in the face of obnoxious royalty and communism at the same time as George Bancroft & Miriam Hopkins tries to escape the 1917 Russian revolution. A bit corny when you're familiar with the story it's based on, but... alright. An entertaining turn of events.
