The most redeeming quality of this film is that it’s already locked up the Oscar for Best Editing by nearly making Jonah Hill look good at basketball.
An extremely cringeworthy shot at a topical, edgy comedy that forgets it has to actually be funny instead of solely sanctimonious, You People features Jonah Hill going against type and trying to play the “grounded”, woke, morally upstanding protagonist in what might be his official peak of self-obsession, which is already a high bar. Remember when he used to just draw giant dicks or when he said he’d release his mentally challenged incest children into the wild? Man, those were the days. The funny part is that Hill already made a better version…
Everything about this feels so dated. Cringe.
Made for people who say "yasss queen" to Kamala Harris even after she told illegal immigrants not to come to the US.
LOL at referring to Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles in Hollywood as part of the hood. FOH.
two things I liked about this bad bad film:
1. They played a Frank Ocean song
2. When the boss’s computer had “they don’t pay taxes in Wakanda, why should you” casually on it
i could've done without eddie murphy just being a kenya barris self insert only talking about how much he hates bi-racial people
also the ending where jonah hill gets struck by lightning?? ya'll are you getting this?
A lot of great cringe comedies can create an uncomfortable situation that is simultaneously funny. This can't quite capture the funny, so it's just uncomfortable. For nearly two hours
