so, yes, let me get it out of the way: my good friend Joaquin is one of my favourite actors blah blah blah; Lynne Ramsay is such an integral part of the film world; the editing was unbelievable.
so, now the mediocrities are out of the way, let’s lay down some paving slabs for some slightly more niche points:
— Joe is tormented by himself. And I loved that.
— The flashback sequences (of which I’m never really a big fan) were stunning
— Fuck, that burial. FUCK
— Did I mention Joaquin is just... he’s just great?
It’s like Yorgos Lanthimos directing Thoroughbreds. And I’ll lap that shit up any day.
It’s one of the most ‘Benjamin Churchill’ films I’ve seen this year. That’s wanky as fuck, but there’s no other way to describe it.
