Great performances by the lead actor as well as his uncle in the film and his love interest.
Overly simplistic about what's right and wrong for the immigrants portrayed in the film. The ending wraps up a little too nicely. The dilemma of the hero feels like something we've seen many times before.
The greatest annoyance was the handheld camera, constantly jumping and jerking, enough to make me sick to my stomach. And it felt like a very immature choice, too, as though all "social" subjects with humble characters should be filmed in this vérité style. Imitating the Dardennes without understanding their aesthetic is a feeble attempt at style.
