BlacKkKlansman ★★★½

Spike Lee's crime comedy/drama biopic is strangely the most relevant film of 2018. It's quite perfectly balanced between a satirical look at extreme racist views and a compelling message that those views haven't gone anywhere. It quite well captures the feel of the KKK as well as the Black Power movement of the 70s. John David Washington and Adam Driver both had great performances. Also, this definitely was my favorite film ending of the year. As for what I didn't like; I felt like the climax wasn't quite as well set-up as it could have been. The film also has the "love side plot" cliché as I call it. Fortunately it doesn't focus on it too heavily. Ultimately, one of my favorites from Spike Lee.
