Thor: Ragnarok

Thor: Ragnarok ★★★★

I think this is officially the Marvel movie I've watched the most, and I think I'm ready to call it the best movie this studio has made. Yes, even over Captain America: The Winter Solider, the movie in which Cap kicks a man off of a boat.

This legitimately feels like a comic book to me. And you need not know a single thing about the MCU to jump in and enjoy it. And it's got space vikings wielding laser guns, undead armies complete with an oversized wolf that fights Hulk, revolutionary rock-monsters with small voices, and demon-gods that burn entire realms with the swing of a sword. And it has clearly and cleanly shot action set to Immigrant Song and the first truly memorable Marvel score from Mark Mothersbaugh. And running underneath all of that 80's sci-fi-fantasy awesomeness is wisdom to share regarding empires built on blood, the struggle of immigrants and refugees, and the lengths we go to bury our guilt.

And I really like it a whole lot and it's super re-watchable and I wish more Marvel movies were singular visions like this one.
