Stalker ★★★★★

One of the things that has really been forgotten in movie making is intent. There are too many films released now where it is impossible to comprehend what the creator's intent was. You are left scratching your head wondering why the camera was placed where it was, why the camera moved when it did, why there was an edit in that place, why the characters are in the location that they are in, etc.

Stalker is the exact opposite of lack of intent. It feels like every creative decision is precise and for a reason. The result is, despite many slow sequences, an entirely engrossing viewing experience. Sensing that there is reason and purpose behind what you are experiencing as a viewer, even if you might not understand everything that you are experiencing, is the ultimate level of communication that every creator should aspire to be on.
