The Master

The Master ★★★★★

So it took 11 hours of driving yesterday, 5 hours of driving today, and another 11 this upcoming Monday, but I was able to see The Master projected in 70mm. Believe me when I tell you that this is one gorgeous movie that should be seen in 70mm if possible, though the cinematography and sound design are good enough that it would be impossible not to appreciate the technical craft on display, even if seen in the poorest possible way.

The Master is a movie that features perfect performances by everyone involved. This perfection is due to the fact that all the actors are actually required to act, which result in their bringing of an A game. All three main actors have developed characters that will last in my memory until the end of time.

As for the actual film, it is dense, complex, and I have a personal interpretation that I believe is exactly what Paul Thomas Anderson expected the audience to come away with. Not to be pretentious in anyway, but I won't be sharing this interpretation just yet. This is a movie that should be seen without any preconceived notions of what the story is going to be. Just go out and see it, and I am looking forward to the intelligent discussion that is bound to come in future.
