Before I Change My Mind 2022
Had a great concept to do something different but ultimately ends up feeling a lot like many films we’ve seen before. There’s a lot of young talent on display, the cast all give great, natural and enjoyable performances.
Anderson’s direction is solid but the attempt to build something bigger or deeper unfortunately goes unfulfilled. It’s a sweet film with plenty to offer, just not as much as you might have hoped.

Pumpkinhead 1988
This one definitely goes in the decent column rather than the trashy one for 1980s horror flicks but it almost feels like it might have been better if it had ramped up the violence and creativity.
It's good and Lance Henriksen is great, and despite the fact they stole the design of the monster from Alien, it's decent work.
It's worth watching but sadly, nothing special.

Trunk - Locked In 2023
A gripping and entertaining thriller, it’s tense from start to finish but also adds surprising notes of comedy.
The writing is excellent, it keeps moving forward, nothing is too unrealistic, and it creates a superb character in Malina, who is easy to root for and follow.
Sina Martens’ performance is everything you could ask for, she is absolutely filled with raw pain, emotion and anger, she’s entirely convincing and charismatic to boot.
Not only that but the cherry on top is that it comes in at that sweet spot between ninety and one hundred minutes.

Scrap 2022
Hugely relatable feature debut from Vivian Kerr. It’s a great exploration of the everyday struggle of modern mothers, today’s vanity constantly pushing people to put on a brave face and not ask for help.
There’s a strong ensemble at work, led by a wonderfully brash and candid performance from Kerr.
