Keith Adams Jr.’s review published on Letterboxd:
Picture "Toy Story" if it were just a little more edgy and had a satirical bent to it. That's what Joe Dante does with this fan favorite action-comedy-fantasy-thriller that follows a line of military-minded action figures with military munitions chips that take their programming functions seriously and wreck havoc on a small town, with only their benevolent toy adversaries the Gorgonites and their pair of teen allies (Kirsten Dunst & Gregory Smith) standing in the way. While the CG effects of ILM date the movie a few times, the animatronic and action figure designs by the late Stan Winston are still creative. I find myself coming back to this, time and time again and it never gets old or boring.
