    The soft glow cast over the opening shot that continues to illuminate Shannon Davidson’s Moira Shearer throughout this short is as much a nod to old film as it is to the dreamy ballerina’s personality. This ambience is beautifully contrasted against the colour-blocked vibrant ‘chase scene’ set to music, showing off Exeter’s understanding of Shearer’s mindset as she chooses between her career as a ballerina and as an actress in Michael Powell’s The Red Shoes.

    This film is clearly quite a personal expression of Bergman’s inner self, and the editing and shots are carefully done to make an artistic world for the two main characters to fight within. Fun to watch, if a little ‘confusing’ upon first viewing, but overall fantastic.
