Hey, I uhhh kinda liked that lol. Jessie Buckley is great and it's very visually striking. This is easily Garland's most confident film to date when it comes to constructing images. The symbolisms can be a bit much at times but it still works. I love the use of Buckley's voice and how it takes that and the sound of the atmosphere as well as the score and rolls them together to compliment all the symbolisms in a way that…

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent 2022
Between this and top gun maverick, 2022 so far has been a great year for feel good summer movies about veteran actors taking a moment of solace to reflect back on their careers.

Normal People 2020
Liked it alot more this time around. Definitely could've worked better if the characters had a bit more meat to them and if it was trimmed down to like 9 episodes or something. Still great tho, vibes are immaculate. The cold aesthetic mixed with Abrahamson's signature close up shots capturing the tremendous performances from the two leads does wonders for the characters, certainly more than the writing anyway.

Ms. Marvel 2022
Ep. 1
I wasn't originally going to watch this because I had no interest in it after reading the leaks but at the same time I also kind of wanted to see if they'd give hints on what they're planning to do with Carol so I decided to give it a shot and uhhhhh about Carol.... yeah, not good. Like, the point of the first film was to not be a propaganda machine or only be a rebel and think…

Hulk 2003
A far FAR better story about an abusive father subjugating his son with mental trauma than shang chi. The superhero stuff may not be that exciting at times sure but the character work is straight up incredible (pun intended). This actually delves deeper to explore the more complex roots of the character that feels like a genuine introspection than cheap sympathy. Also, really love creative decisions being made here. I was a big Hulk fan growing up so I've seen…

Obi-Wan Kenobi 2022
Not as narratively offensive as the rise of skywalker but far more incompetent in comparison. The dull and concrete look makes a return from the Mandalorian but this is far worse because not only does it look ugly, it also looks incredibly fake. The stagecraft technique takes a dip resulting in everything to look like it was filmed in the same studio as Tommy Wiseau's The Room.
Editing is atrocious when it comes to both action and just pacing in…
