Ironically, this film doesn't have any sense of identity.

Maybe not the best movie to watch while on a road trip during the day with massive screen glare, but this was the only thing downloaded on my tablet so what can ya do.

I'm sorry but I still really like this, one of my favorite genres is people screaming in the woods and boy does this have that

  • Prey

As a person who historically hasn't given two fucks about the Predator films or 80's action films in general, and I so immensely happy to say that this film absolutely rips shits.

It's just such a fun, refreshing idea that is executed beautifully, with the action never pausing for a minute and only becoming more and more metal as it progresses.

Very funny that one of the content warnings for this was "unlikeable female protagonist

  • Transcendence

This film took years off my life.

I think the only difference in the unrated cut is that Joey King says the word "clitoris"

    Who would win:
A living embodiment of gaslighting, domestic abuse, and psychology manipulation

    Rebecca Hall holding Two knives?

This seems like a dream you'd have if you pasted out watching Japanese pornography.

    Trust me, I would know!

The way this film is shot- how it frames the characters peering up into the cloudy abyss, scanning the wide, infinite sky; desperately searching for a glimpse of their predator before it rains horror down onto them- is just like nothing I've seen in a film before. It opens up a whole new way to inflict fear and tension onto the audience.

It's truly an experience for the big screen. The very thought of watching this on a sub-4K TV with motion blur turned on and crappy in-TV sound system makes me Physically ill.

An intriguing, long-form discussion on Hollywood and filmmaking with Vikander absolutely killing it as you'd expect. Very much similar to the original and Clouds of Sils Maria.

Unfortunately it does feel like it trickles off towards the end with not as much resolution as you would expect. Idk if I'd recommend unless you're already a fan of Assayas' previous work. And if you haven't, at least watch Sils Maria, as it is best film about film ever made (probably).

Jorden Peele is just flexing at this point. My god dude. Speechless.

Structure is a bit all over the place, and Deckard isn't the most compelling lead. BUT! Great ideas and obviously genre-inspiring visuals. 2049 really does take everything this movie starts and completes it narratively and artistically though.
