Baz’s review published on Letterboxd:
We are Sex Bob-Omb and we are here to make you think about death and get sad and stuff.
A highly inventive, nerdy comic book adaptation that works so well it’s unfair.
Way back when I distinctly remember being completely in lesbians with Brian O’Malley’s series of books. I read them, reread them, then the movie came out and it blew me away. As far as expectations go, it surpassed them. Edgar Wright’s ability for visual flare; close-ups; tight edits, and his proficiency for sound design, really brings to life Scott Pilgrim vs the World in the way I don’t believe another director could have.
A stellar cast that couldn’t be better suited to these characters, but it’s Chris Evans in a small, but scene stealing role, who is the clearly having as much fun as I am just watching.
