Baz’s review published on Letterboxd:
Speed is epitome of great action classics.
Released in 1994, Jan de Bont's high octane, tension fuelled - see what I did there? - actioner, gets a lot of things right. A great cast; an up and coming Sandie B; the 90's poster boy, Johnny Utah, and the Easy Rider himself, Dennis Hopper. But its the effects that make this film really work and everlasting. Where ever possible, all stunts and effects have been done practically. Whether with miniatures, or simply blowing up huge cargo planes. Speed has stood the test of time, and should be a staple in any film fans collection. I admit, there are plot holes galore, but these can be ignored due to the film being so much damn fun.
