There is something particularly sinister about adapting familiar horror mechanics with modern technological applications and Spree is able to pull it off surprisingly well! It becomes pretty blatant how self aware the movie is as it progresses but it leans into that sense of absurdity with an unabashed confidence that slowly grew on me. The only issue is its inability to close out the last 30 minutes with that same panache. I was really rooting for it to finish the deal in spectacular fashion but its ok I still had a ton of fun!

I remember when this happened back in 2018 so I when I saw that Ron Howard was attached to direct a movie about the rescue, of course I was interested in watching it and learning more.
