Watched the 4K Criterion/WKW restoration as part of the World of Wong Kar-wai programme at the ICA
It is such an odd one, because on its own it is beautiful; this melancholic, hopelessly romantic tragedy. However, in the context of a Wong binge, it sticks out a bit. The structure, the cinematography and the screenplay - it feels finely tuned in an anomalous sense.
Perhaps given a rewatch in the future without the weight of six preceding Wong films bearing down, my opinion might change
