Alex Billington’s review published on Letterboxd:
Wow. Am I crazy, or is this a groundbreaking documentary film about humans connecting with animals? Unbelievable. Absolutely incredible. All the superlatives for this one. A story of connection between man and octopus with truly spectacular underwater footage and even some beautiful above water footage. This instantly joins the ranks alongside Jane Goodall and Grizzly Man and Steve Irwin as a seminal moment in animal-human-connection natural history. Now a person has bonded with an octopus and proven, without a doubt and with jaw-dropping footage, that they are intelligent creatures with a personality. Everything about this film took my breath away, almost literally, considering most of it was shot by a few people holding their breath on long free dives in the Atlantic ocean. I don't think I will ever forget all the macro shots of the octopus' eye, a glimpse into an entirely different yet still intelligent mind.
