For a film that presents itself as courageously as Lightyear, it ends up being pretty unadventurous. Stellar visuals aside, what we have is a fairly standard story with a tone that targets a very young demographic. What hurts this the most -- especially when you put it side by side with the last four Pixar outings -- is that the majority of it is made to be enjoyable to the max only by children. Disney-ish humor, cartoonish characters, and only a few sprinkles of the studio's hand for pathos. Nothing jarringly wrong with that, but I was expecting a bit more. Concludes as abruptly as it begins, and unfortunately does not stand out amongst the infinite amount of movies out there, and beyond.
