Flash Stabone’s review published on Letterboxd:
The special effects makeup in this film could be one of the best jobs in history-it will always unsettle me-it feels and looks so real and mixed with the great sound work it will always cause me to squirm in my seat.
This is a masterpiece in suspense & horror. Carpenter succeeds in creating the feeling of isolation-distrust & fear among the characters. The cinematography is brilliant and Carpenter's camera work is close to perfection.
The entire cast is incredible in this. To single out one performance would be impossible. Everyone played their part brilliantly-everything about them is real-every emotion they have we don't doubt.
If you told me you felt this is the best remake of all time I wouldn't argue with you.
Overall this film will never lose it's edge. It is one of the scariest movies I have ever seen yet what makes this different from other films that frighten me is that I will never look away from it no matter how scared I am. It's too good to miss a second of it.
