Flicks With Friends’s review published on Letterboxd:
Dark, stylish and atmospheric, Alex Proyas' nearly noir film based on James O'Barr's comics, was the first bang-up comic book/superhero movie of the 90s.
Special props to the whole cast, Michael Wincott, Ernie Hudson, Tony Todd, Bai Ling, they all rise to their characters and imbue them with real traits and qualities.
But at the heart of this tragic love story is Brandon Lee. And it's unfortunate because no matter how good he was in this role (perfect), no matter how much he made a believer out of skeptics (he did), it will be impossible to separate those elements from his untimely death on set.
