Some are traditional trilogies, a film and two sequels, but in others there's a less direct link among the films - a location, a character, a theme. Some are planned, some are only appreciated by critics after the fact. Either way, they appear below if a single director was responsible for all three of the films.
To appear on the list, all three films must share the same director, all three films need to have actually been produced, and all three films need to be on letterboxd. I found several examples on a wikipedia…
