Both films are quite similar - like all boxing movies. The rise to glory leads to failure culminating in a glorious comeback. It's the hero's journey par excellence.
Despite neither delivering anything new nor giving that much insight into the characters Bleed for This is anchored by a strong performance from Miles Teller with Aaron Eckhart as a solid wingman.
