Flo Lieb’s review published on Letterboxd:
Jennifer Beals is a delight and I love that she is a welder. An 18 year old welder. Glorious.
Flashdance has its issues though. I don't understand why Lyne opens the film with "What a feeling" since the song seems wasted for the rather slow opening credits. Also "Maniac" would've made for a better auditioning song in my opinion.
There are a lot of odd scenes, like the traffic cop one or the whole lobster restaurant scene. Jeanie's downfall kind of comes from nowhere only to get resolved immediately. The same goes for Richie's return during Halloween. Mawby's Bar is generally a strange place, serving burger and fries while hosting stand-up comedy and erotic cabaret. I kind of dig it though.
