Flo Lieb’s review published on Letterboxd:
Ironically within the film they reference wooden characters when all of the characters themselves are wooden.
Why did Joan fall in love with Joseph? Why does the photographer want to jump his bone? There is zero explanation given why he is a pussy magnet.
The “twist“ is foreseeable yet not very well explained considering the 60‘s setting and other possibilities (e.g. Brontë or Alcott).
Bottom line: only worth to watch because of Close (who is great as ever).
