    A.I. Love You

    ★★½

The ending was more disturbing than anything. Either he possessed a guy or he was secretly a guy the whole time??

  • Sullivan's Travels

    Sullivan's Travels

    ★★★½

My mom pointed something out when we watched this together— in the end Sullivan got away with beating a man with a rock because Sullivan is a well-known director. This is a movie about lifting up the poor and desolate but he got away with assault for being rich and famous.

  • Gou-Gou, the Cat

    Gou-Gou, the Cat

    ★★½

I bought this movie because it's about a manga artist and her friends and a cat, that's adapted from a successful manga, and I couldn't imagine how that formula could possibly go wrong. Well, as it turns out...nothing happens.

  • Ginger & Rosa

    Ginger & Rosa

    ★★½

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Main character gets sad when her best friend starts sleeping with her father. That’s it. That’s 98% of what happens.

  • Gloria

    Gloria

    ★★★

Too many conveniences. A bit repetitive. The conflict is resolved in the most redundant way that makes the whole movie feel pointless.
Cool to see a badass older woman though.

  • La chinoise

    La chinoise

    ★★½

More a piece of history than entertainment, this is mostly lectures and arguments on Communism interspliced with abstract conversations. I’d rather have watched a straight-forward documentary or taken a class.

  • High School

Man to auditorium of high schoolers: “I have seen girls whose hymens were so small I could put my finger through them. ... I happen to be a gynecologist and get paid to do [that]. *grins widely*”

    Wildly inappropriate

  • The Brothers Rico

    The Brothers Rico

    ★★★

The story was linear and nothing special, but the way the characters were written and acted made them feel surprisingly realistic.

  • Assassination Nation

    Assassination Nation

    ★★★

A kinetic commentary on mob mentality that unfortunately takes a The Purge esque turn in the last third.

  • Titanic

    Titanic

    ★★★½

Great love story with fleshed out characters. Though I wish more had been going on besides that in this movie because the setting is so rich with potential.

  • Satantango

    Satantango

    ★★★½

To be honest, I fast-forwarded through most of the long shots of people walking. I think doing that shaved off at least a third of the runtime for me.
