Some of my fondest childhood memories are of being taken to the movies by my older brother and his girlfriend. This was one of the movies he took me to see. We saw it at the movie theater of a neighboring small town called Himanka, in a theater built into an old community center building. In other words: it's impossible for me to watch this film with anything else in my mind besides warm memories of the early 90's. Love the subtle hints at a supernatural force with the massive jewel at the center of the story; very unusual storytelling. Great film.

The story of Frank Sheeran, the man who may or may not have killed Jimmy Hoffa. Amazing film. My expectations were high, but this managed to meet them all. Scorsese, who basically invented the modern gangster film, gives the genre he created a kind eulogy with this introspective, melancholy film.

If watching Goodfellas was like going to a party, watching this is like attending a funeral. You might be the one holding the gun or the one getting shot -…
