Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood ★★★½

Quentin Tarantino Ranked
My Most Anticipated Films of 2019

So I finally watched this and it was a completely different thing from what I was expecting. The film is much less dialogue-driven than Tarantino’s other works, there are scenes without much dialogue.

The pacing is also not great during the first hour or so. Some scenes are way too long, some feel pointless, the order of the scenes was also confusing at times. Overall, I wasn’t a big fan of the editing, but I eventually got used to the “anthology” style of the film, which I ended up not hating.

HOWEVER, I really liked everything else. The comedy was fantastic, the setting was wonderful, Tarantino brought 1969 Hollywood to life brilliantly, the characters were also great. Rick and Cliff’s chemistry’s phenomenal and DiCaprio and Pitt both nailed their roles. Margot Robbie didn’t have much to do to be honest.

Finally, Bruce Lee was fucking hilarious and there were feet everywhere.

Edit: Also, I feel tempted to give this a 3.5 instead of a 4, but we’ll see

Edit again: fuck it, it felt too long, it’s a 3.5
