Honestly I could watch this cast walk around the midwest not doing anything and I wouldn't complain. But fortunately there was a lot going on in this movie, in really quiet ways, and I enjoyed how fleeting and lonely the whole film felt. The cinematography was just so beautiful, it gave the film a poetic touch that I really appreciated. Laura Dern, Michelle Williams, Kristen Stewart, and Lily Gladstone give excellent performances as they try to navigate the uncertainty of their lives. Each character feels so well drawn these people feel very real and you learn to care about them, which makes its open-ended final shot feel almost unsatisfying because you know these characters will probably go on to continue living very sad lives. This is my first movie that I've seen by Kelly Reichardt but I'm sure it won't be the last because she has a great sense of direction and writing to create a really well constructed world in this movie.
