Fences 2016
i get why all these ppl are saying that there's too much dialogue, but news flash: it's a play! and the dialogue is so intense and beautiful at times it's easy to get immersed. the fight had my heart pounding in a way it hasn't in a while. it is such an encompassing portrayal of the effects of patriarchy and capitalism; it's terrible and beautiful.

Wuthering Heights 2011
i love how bold and brutal this is. i sometimes wonder how people imagined books in there head in the time before movies. this seems almost like someone who read the book in that time's nightmare of it. it's just so violent and the exact opposite of opulence that you'd expect in an adaptation of a brontë book. stripped of any non diegetic sound, you are left to sit with heathcliff getting his hair pulled out, watching people have sex, kissing dead bodies for 2 hours. intense but rewarding. also i forgot the cinematography is literally heaven.
