Fantastic documentary. I just wish I had a little bit more about the family's falling at the end and how it affected the kids.

In the Heart of the Sea

For a film whose own theme is about facing up to uncomfortable truths, Ron Howard's version does a lot of whitewashing. It takes unnecessary creative liberties with the facts and presents things with too much sentimentality, particularly in the second half. Basically-- the nonfiction book was better. That being said, enough things were done right that I was still entertained and glad I watched it, but it had potential to be so much more.

The screenwriters took way too many creative liberties with the very sensitive subject matter. I would rather have watched a documentary.
