    Honey Boy

    ★★★½

Honey Boy had little content and no characters for me to relate to personally. But, it is a fascinating glimpse into one very specific and odd childhood, namely that of its writer and star Shia LaBeouf. It is a complicated, raw, brutally honest, heartwarming at times, and sad love letter from a healing son to his father. I can’t imagine what it would be like to relive so much of your childhood, but from your father’s damaged perspective. If this…

    Uncut Gems

    ★★½

I don’t want to be too hard on Uncut Gems because it may be that it just isn’t my kind of movie. I enjoyed many of the performances in the film. I also enjoyed some of the plot choices. The Peanut Butter Falcon

    ★★★

Exactly what you expect it to be. A heartwarming, but flawed, independent film with a great cast.  I felt like the performances were solid, the story seemed to straddle the fence of fantasy and reality at times, but seemed to want to be taken as utterly believable. Shia was solid and brooding, Dakota was just okay, their relationship seemed highly unlikely and their chemistry, ehh. The movie was certainly on more sure footing while focused on the friendship of the…

    Avengers: Endgame

    ★★★

In all respects a very satisfying end to the Avengers Saga as we’ve known it. However it is not the cinema redefining experience that some reviews seem to indicate. It is touching at times, but I did not cry. There are fights involving nearly every character in the MCU, but I did not cheer out loud. I did laugh a bit and generally enjoyed all the choices made.
