It's interesting to me that the three men almost never encounter anything overtly dangerous, but the whole film is pervaded with a sense of foreboding and danger. The most intense moment comes not from the much fabled Zone, but from the Professor's threats at the end.
The whole thing is beautiful, with its shifts between sepia tone and color giving it an alien feeling. I liked that Monkey's scenes were also in color, giving her an unnerving alien quality even before the reveal at the very end. The whole film felt almost like a mystery, even though nothing was quite hidden, really.
Ultimately, the scene wherein the three men stop on the cusp of the Room in the Zone is the most potent for me. The philosophical implications are left to simmer as they struggle with their own desires, fears, and beliefs in the face of the mysterious Elysium before them.
