  • Variety Lights

    Variety Lights 1950

    ★★★ Watched by darla 29 May 2022

fellini's first feature here has a great deal of heart and the occasional amusing moment, but it falls down flat in its pacing and narrative structure-- particularly in character motivations and sparking interest

it's no coincidence that all the issues and conflicts were solved with the death of ofelia-- i never clocked how daft she is throughout the whole thing. beautiful nevertheless, but pretty infuriating

  • Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness 2022

    ★★★ Watched by darla 04 May 2022

as much as this film lacked stakes and narrative substance, the editing and special effects were absolutely wonderful! when it came to a depiction of something as abstract as traversing different universes, it truly felt like my mind was being melded and molded and stretched in some form-- such amazing visuals and cinematography in combination with the post production team.
