literally just one of the most effortlessly cool films ever made, a kaleidoscopic film, a dreamlike documentary-essay-art film-magic trick phantasmagoria. not much like it. Orson feels like this wise, weathered magician, a playful genius hidden under a black cloak. He's not pretentious though, there's a joyful energy to his films - as if every aspect of them is new. A true magician through and through, amused at his own tricks, different forms and textures. I adore it.

genuinely magic, this one. this viewing was so delightfully soothing, bringing me to places I can remember briefly. this one is very special to me, one of a handful of films as a kid that I knew were profound but I couldn't quite figure out what they meant to me (this, Rango, Where The Wild Things Are.) everything in it is tailored to my heart - the stop-motion, characters, humor, The Beach Boys songs...it's knitted to my heart's exact size…
it has come to my attention that Come and Learn with Pibby (or Learning with Pibby??) will not be greenlit into a series. Frankly, I find that pretty hilarious, as this is clearly a trailer and not a short film. Either way, I'm taking the opportunity to eulogize the would-be show.
