A Fistful of Dollars

A Fistful of Dollars ★★★

“When a man’s got money in his pocket he begins to appreciate peace.”

I wish I could say this was fantastic, I wish I could say this is my favorite western, and I wish I could say I felt the magic everyone else raves about; but I didn’t. While this is by no means a bad film, it certainly wasn’t the masterpiece I had envisioned. First off I really was sold by Eastwood’s cool yet collective demeanor, the camerawork was pretty fun and fluid at times, the production design was engaging, and the score was legitimately fantastic. However, this film is pretty dated in my opinion. The death scenes are  laughable, the gore is not well done, the dubbing took me out of the film many times and I wish that it wasn’t there. I’m still looking forward to finishing this trilogy but I’m hesitantly optimistic.
