It's such a good concept, basically 'what if Solaris was a horror', but instead of going with the obvious, monster aliens, you go with a portal to hell a la Hellraiser or the Doom games. Also the production design is just great and the cast is pretty solid. Where it hits some bumps though is PWS Anderson's lack of subtlety, he just shouts at you with his direction much more than a film like this needs it. I can't help but wonder how good this could have been if someone like Carpenter had done it.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens 2015
The Force Awakens is a lot like The Rolling Stones or some such band coming to town. They do the same old stuff they've done for the last 170 or so years, but the lack of originality or any kind of surprise is actually welcome because you feel safe and at home with the nostalgia that they relentlessly pulverize you with. And at the end of the day everyone's happy, you got your piece of recycled childhood served in a nice package and they got paid. Like, a lot.
